Grupo Sobreira is a substantial employer
in our area, employing the harvest season as many as 1200
people. We employ over 120 full time employees throughout the year.
We are also a major purchaser of goods and services in our region,
from simple farm tools to petroleum and agricultural products.
indeed, as most of our coffee is exported abroad, we are a major
importer of capital to our region. We have resisted utilizing speed, automated equipment because we believe that it would be contra-productive of our objective to produce the highest possible quality coffee and would contribute to unemployment in our region. Grupo Sobreira works with many associate producers in Matas do Minas. We encourage these associate farms to produce the best coffee with the least impact on the ecology of our beautiful land, and we help to improve the standard of living of our associate farmers by sharing our dividends with them.
